Q: What are the qualifying races?
A: Full Triathlon, 42km Trail Run, 21km Trail Run
Q: Will there be aid stations or water during the race?
A: Water and Fuel will be located at T1, T2 and at the Finish-Line, as well as aid stations strategically located along the race bike route at 3km and 15km and at the 3km and 6km along the Run Course. BCAA available along with anti-chaffing cream, fruit, electrolytes, and sweet and salty snacks to help keep your energy and momentum up.
Q: Will there be a medical team present onsite?
A: Our race boasts one of the world’s safest events, with doctors always onsite, backed by a team of seasoned trauma nurses, paramedics, lifeguards, and additional EMS support. There will be medical teams located strategically throughout the course to provide assistance should anyone need any medical assistance
Q: Is the course well identified? What should we be looking for?
A: The course is identified with arrows, chalk and tape. We also have volunteers posted throughout to keep racers on course. You can also take a look at our race map online to get to know the course prior to racing.
Q: Are there any mandatory items for the races?
A: For multi-sport races, a helmet and your own bike are required. For all races, it is recommended to bring a water bottle or water pouch.
Q: Any specific equipment for the duathlon races?
A: you will need TWO pairs of shoes (2x shoes), one to complete run #1, and one pair waiting at t2.
Q: Are running poles allowed or recommended for the trail runs?
A: Yes, poles are allowed but it will keep you from qualifying for the world championship.
Q: Are we allowed to leave drop bags for the second loop of the 42km trail run?
A: Yes, drop bags are permitted, you must figure out your own drop bag location on the course.
Q: Bike drop off the night before?
A: While there will be room for both athletes and bikes to be shuttled to Crowley Lake on race morning, we do strongly suggest that athletes take advantage of the XTERRA: Bike Drop-Off option, where bikes will be stored in secured locked Sea-Cans overnight. Bikes must be onsite and racked before 8pm at Crowley Lake to take advantage of the overnight drop off. Access to Crowley Lake will be closed by locked gates at 8pm and there will be security on site throughout the night to protect your gear.
Q: Where is the start line?
A: Please note that for all multi-sport athletes (off-road triathlons and duathlon races) your race begins at Crowley Lake, not Kivi Park. There will be no drive-in access to Crowley Lake given the tight confines of the road past 7am. Athlete Shuttles and Bike Shuttles to the race start will begin at 7:00am from Kivi Park’s Parking Lot #2.
The start line for trail runs is located just in front of Adventure 365 shop at the Nina’s Way entrance for all Races except the 5KM Race.
The start line for the 5km race is located further up the park near the play structure. Volunteers will be able to assist you day of.
Q: Where to multisport athlete check in on Saturday?
A: Racer CHECK IN for multisport will occur at Crowley Lake. Once you get dropped off, proceed to the Registration Table, where you will receive your timing chip and body numbering.
Q: Where do trail run athletes check in on Sunday?
A: Kivi Park, Ontario. Main ground, near registration tent.
Q: Do we have to wear a chip for the races
A: ALL athletes must wear a chip time except for the 1km kids adventure race.
Q: Are family and friends allowed in the transition zone?
A: Once set up time is over family and friends are not permitted in the transition zones.
Q: Are we racing in age groups?
A: you will be racing in your age-group as of December 31st, 2024.
non-world qualifying races age categories: <18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-69, 70+.
Q: How many people qualify for 2024 XTERRA world championships in Trentino, Italy
A: There is a total of 28 XTERRA World Qualifying Spots, one for each of the 13 sex-specific 5-year age categories: U20, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.
Q: Do I need to be a Triathlon Ontario Membership?
A: If you are just planning to race at Xterra Conquer the Crater, a one-day membership comes with your registration fee. However, if you are hoping to use your Conquer the Crater race to qualify for or participate in international, national, and provincial competitions, you must become a member of Triathlon Ontario at the following link: https://www.triathlonontario.com/members

Q: Can I register for the triathlon if I’m younger than the minimum age?
A: To be able to register for a triathlon if you are younger than the minimum age is that posted on our website you must request special permission from Triathlon Ontario.
Email them at info@triathlonontario.com and include the following information;
· The event you are attending: Xterra Conquer the Crater.
· The race you are interested in racing: Full or Sprint Triathlon.
· Your age and the minimum age.
· Proof of training or preparedness for the race.
Q: When can I pick up my race kit?
A: Thursday, July 18th: 3pm – 6pm
Friday, July 19th: 3pm – 6pm
Saturday, July 20th: 6:30am – 4pm
Sunday, July 21st: 6:30am – 10am
Q: Can friends or family pick up your race kit?
A: Yes, a friend or family member may pick up your race kit. They must provide your full name and their full name.
Q: Where is race kit pick up.
A: Race kit pick up is at KIVI PARK’S ICE-RINK SHACK, located at the park’s main site on Long Lake Rd
Q: How do I purchase camping?
A: For un-registered participants;
Register for Saturday or register for Sunday events with the link bellow. Select the event you wish to participate in. You will be able to purchase camping when filling out your registration form just below the swag items. Select the date you will be camping and proceed to checkout.
For registered participants;
Click the link bellow and login. After login select “My Events” tab under your name. Select “Purchase Merchandise” tab. Select the date you will be camping and proceed to checkout.

Q: Is camping price per person or per tent?
A: The camping price is per tent.
Q: Can I bring a camper trailer?
A: No, it is a tenting only area.
Q: Is there running water?
A: There isn’t any running water although we will have a water trailer available for use on site.
Q: Are there working bathrooms on site?
A: There are various outhouses and porta potties located onsite
Q: Can we book tenting at the event?
A: Yes, if you decide to tent or stay an extra night while at the event, you will be able to purchase a tenting space at Registration.

Q: Do I have to register for the kids 1km or 3km youth races?
A: Yes, you must register your child/children for both the 1km and 3km race. This can be done online.
Q: Can I run the kids race with my child?
A: We will have volunteers posted throughout the race, but you are more than welcome to run with your child/children if you feel like they would benefit from having an adult with them.
Q: Are the kid’s activities free?
A: The MAC activities such as bouncy castles, face painting, balloon animals and a 1km kids’ race are free.
Q: What time is the beer garden and live music open?
A: Saturday July 20th 11:00am – 4:00pm and Sunday July 21st, 10:00am – 2:00pm
Live music is on Saturday only.
Q: Can kids come into the entertainment area?
A: Alcoholic beverages will be sold, but YES, kids may enter the entertainment area.
